Paddy Hughes has written poetry for many years. He is a member of several renowned groups including the Pitshanger Poets and Richmond Writers Circle. His collection which has remained private until recently is enormous and draws from a great panoply of subjects. He views the world with a director’s eye. There are several large sub collections.... His stimulating times as a fast jet fighter pilot and ski racer in the Royal Air Force feature strongly in his ‘Aviation’ series. These are very popular at public readings. His ‘People’ reflect the great range of fascinating humans he has met in film making all over the world. They make you laugh. They make you cry. So, too with ‘Love and Hate', a labyrinth of deeply passionate and pained poems. |
But, biggest of all, is his ‘Richmond Park’ collection, over a hundred poems about this world famous deer park beside which he lives. It is Paddy’s relief from the concrete buildings and streets full of cars in London. He recently recorded and released his first CD, ‘Richmond Park Reflections’ which has been highly acclaimed. Paddy contributes a monthly poem to the ‘Richmond Magazine’. |
