Turning a script into a film

The writer creates the idea for a film. Without a good idea and without a good synopsis, treatment or script you will struggle to make a good film. The secret, he believes, of good writing is to be able to reduce even the most complicated subject to its essential basics - if you like, to boil it down to its crystals, pick them up, polish them and then re-arrange them into the glittering array that is your film.

It’s also to be original, to stretch a subject to the limits of its possibilities. To that end, he has experimented successfully with all sorts of symbolism and simile - traditional mime, world championship juggling, archery, lasers, take-offs of TV comedy shows and drama series.
